GRAPHICS ✷ BLOG

A side hobby of mine is designing custom logos and branding palettes for projects I'm involved in. Two examples for current roles (my blog Ashna's Journal and my club STEMPower) are my recent favourites, handdrawn to display the essence of their value add.

Ashna's journal

This logo design emphasized the three words I wanted my Substack blog to feel like - insightful, authentic, and imperfect. For this reason I chose sage green, a colour that I feel represents wisdom, and a rougher brush to create a more handdrawn look for the pencil graphic.

STEMPOWER

STEMPower is a club created to empower minorities in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) with workshops, resources, community and school events! To communicate this message effectively in our materials, I created the branding and logo with the focus of being playful, unique and techy.

The colour palette for this project was in the cool futuristic tones to represent hues that are typically represented in science and technology.

However, the most important part of this project was the logo. As an executive team we decided we wanted an animal to represent the club and serve as mascot. After much deliberation, we decided on a chameleon named Cleo after the inspiring science and tech creator @CleoAbram. As our club had to represent multiple facets of STEM, I designed multiple renditions of Cleo completing different tasks, from wacky science experiments to coding the future.
